Faux Finishing Existing Cabinets and Woodwork
Faux finishing existing cabinets has many advantages. Refacing or replacing cabinets can be costly and, to be honest, it’s something that’s really not necessary in order to achieve a new look. Only in extreme cases of wear due to age, or water damage, will an existing finish have to be completely removed before adding a new one.
The process starts by applying a new base paint on cabinets. The base paint may be lightly sanded or scraped for wear and distress. A tainted glaze is then applied to create an antique look. Painted cabinets may also be wood grained and stained in order to achieve a stain grade appearance. Shading is added for a warmth which has been one of Faux Real Designs staple of finished look for many years. Graving, wormholes and distress marks can also be added to the finish. A clear coat is applied to provide protection, easy cleaning and most importantly to give our work a beautiful final touch.
Wood faux finishes are not just limited to cabinets, they may also be used on trim, windows, full size doors and furniture. Choose faux, to achieve a custom look and feel for all wood surfaces in your home.
